NZ Manuka Honey Super Hot At Harrods!

New Zealand's True Honey Company's Rare Harvest Mānuka Honey hit the shelves at Harrods a few weeks ago and is proving to be very popular, despite its 230-gram jar having a price tag of nearly NZ$3,000 (£1390)!

This makes the rare batch of mānuka honey one of the most expensive foods ever produced globally. With a very limited supply of 1000 jars, the product is not expected to last long and Harrods has even had one customer preordered 10 jars in advance.

The honey has the highest unique mānuka factor (UMF) ever produced at 31+, six times higher than UMF of most mānuka honey sold in New Zealand supermarkets today. This particular honey is made in Ahipara, Northland although the exact source location is being kept under wraps as highly confidential.

CEO Jim McMillian says the company has made a lot of effort to place its hives amongst pure mānuka stands in remote parts of the country, as this helps to limit the contamination of other nectar.

Speaking of New Zealand supermarkets, Mānuka honey’s popularity as a stolen item means many supermarkets combat this by filling dummy containers with rice, which shoppers can then exchange at checkout for the real thing - and that's a true story!

What Our Customers Think

I used to work out my GST and process it manually which would take me at least a full day every two months. The team set up reconcilliation rules and other quick tools, and showed me how to do all my reconcilliations and process my GST returns through Xero which now takes me no time at all!
